Services / As A Resource
Data gathered by POST receivers can help you answer specific questions about the movement, survival and behaviour of any migratory marine animal, from something the size of a salmon smolt, to a blue whale.
POST is an invaluable resource for the broad-scale detection of marine animals tagged with acoustic transmitters on the west coast of North America. The POST array presently consists of a series of lines of acoustic receivers anchored on the seabed from shore to continental-shelf edge, in a region spanning over 3,000km from Prince William Sound, Alaska to Point Reyes, California.
POST utilizes technology designed and manufactured by VEMCO, a division of AMIRIX Systems Inc., based in Halifax, Canada. Learn more about VEMCO's products (transmitters, receivers, etc) on their website, where you can also access informative white papers to help you better understand the technology behind acoustic telemetry.
