Larry Cassidy - Chair, POST Management Board

Frank L. Cassidy Jr., who goes by a nickname "Larry", grew up in Seattle and graduated from the University of Washington in 1962. He spent his entire business career in the plumbing industry. In 1969 Larry started his own wholesale plumbing firm, Sunrise Pipe and Supply, which grew to international status with branches in both the United States and Canada, and was sold in 1985. He then started an import firm for plumbing products and sold that business in 2000. For seven years he was a partner in Patit Creek Cellars, a boutique winery in Walla Walla, WA, which he sold in 2007.

While conducting his successful business career, Larry committed much time to public service. In 1969, he was elected President of the Northwest Steelheaders, eventually merging that group with Trout Unlimited. Later he served as the National Vice-President of Trout Unlimited. While serving on the Trout Unlimited Board he was recognized as the National Trout Conservationist of the year.

Governor Dan Evans appointed Larry to the Washington State Game Commission in 1973, where he served for twelve years and sat as Chairman for four years. In 1998 Governor Gary Locke appointed Larry to the Northwest Power and Conservation Council where he served ten years under two Governors, retiring in 2008. He served three successive terms as Chairman of the Northwest Power and Conservation Council. Since 1973, he has worked in some capacity for every Washington State Governor including the current, Chris Gregoire. All his public service efforts dealt with Fish and Wildlife.

Larry has received numerous awards for his public service and is a member of the Northwest Steelheaders Hall of Fame. He is currently retired and serving as the Chair of the Pacific Ocean Shelf Tracking Project. He and his wife of 45 years, Marilou, spend significant time on their cattle ranch on the Grande Ronde River in Southeast Washington, while his permanent home is in Vancouver, WA.
